The amplifier can still be used as it should out in the field, but the whine gets quite annoying when indoors or doing low-level music playback.Īny idea what the issue could be? Or if it's worth it to repair it? Or if there's something I can do differently to try and mitigate the whine?Īny help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks The whine seems to be between 1375 - 1385 Hz and does not fluctuate. Other than the whine, the amplifier is completely operational with no observable faults. Leads me to believe it may be something awry in the output stage. The high-pitched noise remains whether the ground is lifted or not and also remains when the volume knobs are all the way down, but does not get louder as the volume knobs are increased. It was used as a backup amplifier for a PA system and was only used for monitors on a handful of occasions. ![]() I'm facing an issue whereby an older USA-Made Crown XTI 2000 creates a high-pitched whine through whatever speakers are connected to it the amplifier has less than 5 hours of operation under its belt and was never pushed. ![]()
